Intensive outpatient treatment, or "IOP", is a form of recovery from an addiction problem that is substantially more comprehensive and involved than a conventional outpatient program. Intensive outpatient treatment is fundamental activity for individuals in Liberty who have just finished residential or inpatient rehabilitation, and still need moderate support and intervention while they transition to a clean and sober and ethical lifestyle. IOP's involve therapy which occurs much more often than regular outpatient, where clients will participate in the treatment on a part time basis unless otherwise determined.
Intensive outpatient treatment normally consists of individual and group counseling and therapy sessions to continue to treat the person's addiction. Individual sessions will occur at least once a week, and group sessions will add the peer support that is vital for long term sobriety. In intensive outpatient treatment, clients work on refining relapse prevention skills, the management of every day stresses and triggers, and how to manage any lingering withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Some intensive outpatient rehab programs include family and couples/marriage counseling into the recovery process, which may be beneficial for people who must repair their lives with their families and loved ones.
