Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Alamo, IN.

One of the out-patient treatment options for clients in Alamo battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense specific meds to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low enough doses however, the client doesn't experience high feelings and also does not experience intense cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this reason, but there are alternative options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to administer the drug, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced around $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
