Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Lewis, IN.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for people in Lewis who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are authorized to administer specific medications to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. With low enough amounts the user doesn't experience being high but also does not experience severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are other options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the med, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which is only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars monthly for the generic of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
