SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Richland, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Richland are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
