SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Cambridge, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Cambridge are programs who are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
