The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
