Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Military Veterans are central for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at higher than average rates among Vets, it is crucial that they get the essential help they need due to such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Alcohol and drug abuse facilities for Vets in Copeland are available through the VA, with included services such as programs to handle associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Rehabilitation for substance abuse and related problems among Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also used in some instances to help Military Vets lessen their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Military Vets are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both outpatient and residential options available. Facilities that are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Vets are available in certain areas.
