SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - El Dorado, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in El Dorado are programs which are legally permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
