The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
