Alcohol and drug abuse facilities for Vets are central for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because substance abuse and other mental health problems are found at above average rates among Vets, it is important that they get the assistance they need due to such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Vets in Fort Scott are available from the VA, with services that include efforts to address associated disorders such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Treatment for addiction and related disorders among Vets includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies which can increase a person's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also available in some instances to help Vets decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
