SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Junction City, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Junction City are programs that are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been granted.
