Substance abuse facilities for Vets are essential for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the armed forces. Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at higher than average rates among Veterans, it is important that Veterans get the essential assistance they need due to such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among Veterans.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Vets in Long Island are available through the VA, with included services such as programs to address associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Vets. Rehabilitation for addiction and related disorders among Veterans includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy which can increase an individual's desire to change.
