The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Maize are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.
