The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
