There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. An individual consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
