The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
