SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Osage City, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Osage City are programs who are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
