The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
