The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Paradise are programs that are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also get auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.
An opioid rehab center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
