SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Peru, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Peru are programs who are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
