SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Richmond, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Richmond are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was given.
