SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Sedan, KS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Sedan are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
