Substance abuse facilities for Vets are central for the mental health and overall stability of Veterans of all branches of the military. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health problems are found at above average rates among Veterans, it is crucial that Veterans get the help they need because of such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Vets in Victoria are available through the VA, with services that include efforts to handle associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Veterans. Rehabilitation for addiction and related problems among Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies which can increase an individual's desire to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also used in some instances to help Vets decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
Alcohol and drug abuse facilities for Vets are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both outpatient and residential programs available. Programs that are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Veterans are available in certain areas.
