Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
