There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. An individual consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
