SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Means, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Means are programs which are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
