SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Princeton, KY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Princeton are programs who are legally permitted to give out the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
