Regular outpatient rehab is mostly a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal drug or alcohol rehab available in Angola. Some clients are attending treatment for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a step down to service following treatment in a more intensive outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient program.
Regular outpatient rehab services offer individual and group counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Facilities which include a wider spectrum of services may include counseling (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. How long a client remains involved in recovery can change from client to client, and a client's improvement can be judged every now and then and more treatment can be recommended contingent upon these findings.
In many cases, a regular outpatient treatment program is going to be insufficient in intensity for a client who is attempting to address a severe substance abuse issue and has not experienced recovery previously or has fallen off the wagon after prior outpatient recovery.
