The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Angola are programs which are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can get their initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year.
