SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Church Point, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Church Point are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
