SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Delhi, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Delhi are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
