SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Flatwoods, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Flatwoods are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been given.
