SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Melrose, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Melrose are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
