SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Melville, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Melville are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
