SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Morse, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Morse are programs who are officially permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
