SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Woodworth, LA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Woodworth are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
