The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
