Because substance abuse and other mental health problems are found at higher than average rates among Vets, it is important that they get the essential assistance they need due to such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among Veterans.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Vets in Columbia are available through the VA, with services that include measures to address associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Vets. Treatment for substance abuse and related disorders among Military Vets includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase a person's motivation to change.
