Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Sebago, ME.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Sebago struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are certified to dispense certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioids themselves and are addictive. In low doses the client does not experience being high and also doesn't have acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. An individual consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
