There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
