Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 years old have access to addiction rehabilitation centers designed specifically to meet their needs. The most comprehensive treatment available for young adults is at an inpatient rehab facility in Winn which offers a wider spectrum of services than outpatient programs. Substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental health disorders can be worked on concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have therapists or psychologists on staff to handle co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in treatment programs which specifically treat their age group benefit from having the peer support available and the compassion of rehab staff who are commonly trained and knowledgeable at treating these youths.
The length of treatment can vary for young adult rehab programs, and this is usually determined based off the individual's progress during the program. The more severe the case is, the longer it may be recommended that the young adult remains in treatment. If outpatient treatment is the only option available, this too should be comprehensive enough to meet the client's needs. For example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to participate in counseling and therapy a couple of times per week, and there are programs which require daily attendance.
