Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse.
