SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Baldwin, MI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Baldwin are programs who are officially permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
