Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Hillman, MI.

One of the out-patient treatment options for people in Hillman struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to give specific meds to opioid addicted people, many of which are opioids themselves and are addictive. In low enough amounts the user does not experience high feelings but also does not have severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are other options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to administer the drug, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. Someone taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
