Regular outpatient rehabilitation is usually a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Interlochen. Some individuals are attending rehab for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because of the cost and time commitment and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a downgrade from treatment in a more intensive outpatient center like a partial hospitalization or in-patient facility.
Regular outpatient rehabilitation services usually involve some kind of group and individual counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Facilities that include a more diverse range of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. The length of time a client remains involved in rehab can vary, and a client's progress can be evaluated from time to time and more rehab can be suggested based on these conclusions.
In many cases, a regular outpatient recovery facility may be insufficient in intensity for someone who is dealing with a chronic substance abuse problem and has not experienced rehab previously or has relapsed following prior outpatient rehabilitation.
