Regular outpatient rehab is usually a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient rehabilitation, and is the lowest intensity of formal alcohol or drug rehabilitation available in Paris. Some clients are attending treatment for the first time and have picked regular outpatient because of the cost and time commitment and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient center like a partial hospitalization or in-patient facility.
Regular out-patient rehabilitation services usually offer group and individual counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Centers that offer a more diverse range of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. The length of time a person remains involved in recovery can vary, and a client's progress can be judged every now and then and an extension of rehab can be suggested contingent upon these evaluations.
In some cases, a regular outpatient recovery facility may be insufficient in intensity for someone who is facing a severe substance abuse problem and has never experienced rehab before or has relapsed following prior outpatient recovery.
