The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in Willmar. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other treatment services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detoxification are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers are permitted to remain in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly allowed.
