Facilities that offer residential beds for clients have these beds so women can be in a safe site for their child/children while they're in the rehab that will restore their lives and have their kids stay with them. The flipside for these children would be extremely bad in most cases, so it can ease the mind of the mother and the child, to have a safe place to stay and be with each other. Residential beds are available for pregnant women and postpartum women and usually for kids until the age of 5-6 yrs old.
How long you can stay in one of these residential centers can be different, and so can rehab offerings. For pregnant or postpartum mothers, beds are available but so are medical services specific to these mothers. If a woman is pregnant, or perhaps breast feeding and postpartum, these factors are taken under advisement during and after detox to make sure the child is safe. As an example, a person who is opiate addicted or who is receiving methadone assisted rehab would be treated in a way which would ensure the baby's safety. In addition to the residential beds available, many programs in Alma have other services to help mothers and fathers get through treatment more easily such as daycare.
