The price monthly of buprenorphine is around $300 per month for the generic of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced approximately $450 per month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
