A person taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
